📖 How to read Saju Chart · Free

The Saju Chart (manseryeok) converts your birth date and time into the stem-branch calendar used by the solar terms. Your birth year, month, day, and hour each become two characters (a Heavenly Stem plus an Earthly Branch), producing the eight-character chart (Saju palja) — the raw material of every Saju reading: the Five Elements balance, the Ten Gods, the Yongsin, and your 10-year luck cycles. Byeolja's chart tool is free from the chart calculation through the elements, Ten Gods, and luck-cycle summaries, plus Bokja's one-line reading.

  1. Enter your birth date and time and the eight-character chart is calculated. Lunar dates and leap months are supported.
  2. Start with the Day Master (you) — the top character of the Day Pillar, highlighted in amber, is the protagonist of the chart.
  3. Check your strongest and weakest energies in the Five Elements chart, and the grain of your temperament and talents in the Ten Gods.
  4. In the Luck Cycles timeline, see the big waterway that changes every ten years and the stretch you're passing through now.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What is a manseryeok?

Originally, a manseryeok is an almanac that records each date in stem-branch (ganzhi) form. Since a Saju reading begins by converting your birth date and time into the eight-character chart with this almanac, the tool that computes the chart is commonly called a manseryeok too.

Can I still get a chart without my birth time?

Yes. Choose 'time unknown' and the chart is calculated from six characters, without the Hour Pillar. Just note that what the Hour Pillar carries — the seat of later life, the hour's Ten God — is left out.

Why do different services give slightly different charts?

The year and month boundaries follow the solar terms (like ipchun) rather than January 1st, and services differ in how they handle the exact term-entry moment, whether they correct for true solar time (longitude), and how they treat the 11 p.m. hour (the ja-hour policies). If you were born near a boundary, results can diverge.

How much is free?

The chart (all eight characters), Five Elements balance, Ten Gods, Yongsin, the luck-cycle timeline, and Bokja's one-line reading are free. The full reading that weaves your eight characters into one story, and the deep analysis covering Gyeokguk, Day Master strength, and sinsal with their derivations, are paid content unlocked with coins.

What are the chart, the Five Elements, and the Ten Gods?

The chart is your birth date and time transcribed into eight characters — the base board of Saju. The Five Elements sort those characters into five energies (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) as a balance sheet, and the Ten Gods name the ten kinds of relationship each character has with 'you' (the Day Master). The related guides below walk through each concept.

Saju and chart results are for entertainment and self-reflection only — they don't determine your fate.
