Privacy Policy

Byeolja (the "site") complies with the Personal Information Protection Act and other relevant laws and does its utmost to protect users' personal information. This policy explains what personal information the site collects and uses, for what purposes, and how it is stored and destroyed.

Most of the site's tools and calculators run within your browser, and your inputs are not sent to a server. However, some features — such as member functions, fortune-telling and astrology, AI consultation, and the community — are processed on the server, and personal information may be collected as described below.

1. Personal Information We Collect

  • Member account (social login): the verified email address provided by the login provider (Google, Kakao, etc.), your name (nickname) and provider identifier, and records of your consent to the terms and privacy policy (consent version, timestamp, and whether you opted in to marketing messages). We do not collect your legal name, resident registration number, or phone number, and we do not store unverified email addresses.
  • Birth profile (Saju / astrology saved data): if you choose to save a profile, your name/alias, date of birth, time of birth, gender, and solar/lunar calendar setting, together with the place of birth (city, latitude, longitude, time zone) needed to calculate your birth chart.
  • Reading (result) records: the fortune and astrology results you save, along with a snapshot of the date of birth and gender used to indicate whose reading it is.
  • AI consultation: the chart (myeongsik) information for the consultation session and the conversation content. (Only the chart is calculated and stored for a consultation session; the original date of birth is not stored in the session.)
  • Coin and usage records: your coin balance and transaction history (the reason for each grant or use and the time it was processed). We do not collect financial information such as payment card details.
  • Community: your nickname, the content of your posts and comments, attached images, post passwords (hashed), and a hashed IP address used to prevent flooding and spam (we do not store the original IP address).
  • Automatically collected information: statistical information such as access logs, browser type, device information, and pages visited, as well as preferences stored via cookies (for example, dark mode) and advertising identifiers.

2. Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information

  • Identifying members, login, account linking, and providing member-only features (saving and re-viewing results)
  • Generating fortune, Saju, and astrology results and calculating birth charts
  • Generating AI consultation responses and maintaining conversation context
  • Managing in-service currency, including coin grants and use
  • Operating the community and preventing flooding, spam, and abuse
  • Analyzing usage statistics, serving advertisements, and improving the service
  • Fulfilling legal obligations and responding to disputes

3. Retention and Use Period

  • Login session information expires 30 days after it is created.
  • Member account information, birth profiles, saved readings, coin transaction history, and AI consultation records are retained to provide the service and allow re-viewing, and are deleted together with the linked account when you close your membership.
  • Conversation content, consultation notes, and cross-session memory from the AI consultation (Rooftop Room) are retained for continuity on your next visit, and can be deleted individually at any time via "Erase Byeolja's memory" in your account settings without closing your membership (deletion removes the conversation history and consultation notes together).
  • Community posts (nickname, content, attachments) are retained until the author deletes them with their password or an operator removes them. IP addresses used for abuse prevention are stored only in hashed form, and the original IP address is not kept.
  • Where applicable laws require retention for a set period, the information is kept for that period and then destroyed.

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

As a rule, the site does not provide your personal information to outside parties. However, in the following cases the minimum information necessary to provide the service is transmitted.

  • Place-of-birth coordinate lookup: when you enter a birthplace address or place name, that input is sent to a map service (Kakao) to convert it into coordinates (latitude and longitude).
  • When required by law or requested by an investigative authority in accordance with due legal process.

5. Entrustment of Personal Information Processing

To provide a stable service, the site entrusts the processing of personal information as follows.

  • Vercel Inc. — service hosting and server operation
  • Neon Inc. — database storage and operation
  • OpenAI — AI fortune and consultation text generation (processing chart data and conversation content)
  • Google LLC — advertising delivery (AdSense) and usage analytics (Google Analytics and Tag Manager)
  • Kakao — social login and place-of-birth coordinate lookup (Maps API)

6. Rights of Data Subjects and How to Exercise Them

  • You may at any time request access to, correction of, deletion of, or suspension of the processing of your personal information, and may close your membership.
  • You can close your membership yourself at the bottom of the My Info page after logging in. When you do, the information linked to your account (birth profiles, library, coins, consultation records, etc.) is immediately deleted along with it and cannot be recovered.
  • You can delete saved readings directly from your library, delete community posts using the password you set when writing them, and end your login session by logging out.
  • For access, correction, or other requests regarding your personal information, please contact aiden7109@gmail.com. We will process your request without delay after identity verification.
  • Consent to receive marketing information (optional) is not required to use the service, and you may withdraw it at any time.

7. Destruction of Personal Information

Personal information whose retention period has passed or whose processing purpose has been achieved is destroyed without delay. When you close your membership, the information linked to your account (profiles, readings, coins, consultation records, etc.) is deleted together with it, and electronic files are erased by a method that prevents recovery.

8. Personal Information of Children Under 14

As a rule, the site does not collect personal information from children under the age of 14. We confirm that members are 14 or older at sign-up, and a child under 14 who wishes to use features that require personal information (date of birth, place of birth), such as fortune-telling and astrology, must have the consent of a legal guardian. If we learn that such information was collected without consent, we destroy it without delay.

9. Advertising, Analytics, and Cookies

To operate the service, the site may use third-party advertising such as Google AdSense and analytics tools such as Google Analytics. In this process, third parties including Google may use cookies to serve personalized ads based on your visit history. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ad Settings, and for more about cookies, see our Cookie Policy. You can refuse to store cookies in your browser settings, but some features may then be limited.

Some pages embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When you play an embedded video, Google (YouTube) may use cookies or similar technologies; no cookies are set before playback. For details, see Google's privacy policy.

10. Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information

  • Login session tokens are not stored in their original form; only hashed values are kept.
  • Community post passwords and access IP addresses are stored as non-decryptable hashes.
  • For social login, only verified email addresses are stored, and authentication security measures such as CSRF protection are applied.
  • The database where personal information is stored is operated in an access-controlled environment.

12. Duty of Notification

This policy may be amended in line with changes to laws or the service. When it is amended, the effective date and the changes will be announced on the site.
